The President,  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has apologised to the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II over the recent violent attack by the Delta Force in Kumasi with a promise to deal with lawlessness in the country.

The Delta Force, one of the vigilante groups of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday, March 23, attacked the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei.

And just like the many such attacks by other pro-NPP groups, the over 100 members wanted to force Mr Adjei out because they wanted they felt he was an outsider and they wanted their own man appointed.

This led to a massive condemnation in the country and the Ashanti Regional Police Command swiftly moved to arrest about nine members of the Delta Force who are being processed for court.

Touching on the matter during his visit to the Manhyia Palace as part of his three-day tour of the Ashanti Region President Akufo-Addo told the Asantehene that he was aware of the situation and was going ensure the such an attack never happens again.

According to him, he was not going to condone any lawlessness under his leadership and reiterated his call to ensure such issues never happen again.

“There are a few things, Delta [Force] and other issues that are unpleasant, but we are working to deal with those issues to ensure peace and understanding in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, and the whole country.

“I will not ignore such issues. The law applies to everyone in Ghana. I know it is of concern to you, but do not worry, we will ensure that everything is resolved", he stated.
