The Berekum Divisional Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old man, David Frimpong, for alleged unlawful possession of narcotic drugs at Nyamebekyere in the Berekum Municipality of the Bono Region.
The suspect was picked up during an intelligence-led operation at his residence in a semi-completed building.
According to the police, Frimpong attempted to flee upon seeing officers but was swiftly apprehended.

A search of the premises uncovered 57 compressed slabs of dried leaves, 195 wraps of dried leaves, and three sacks containing quantities of dried leaves, all suspected to be Indian hemp.
Police also retrieved a container of ‘groundnut cake’ toffee suspected to have been mixed with Indian hemp, six pairs of scissors, 14 packs of cigarettes, and 190 wrapping papers.
The exhibits have since been retained for evidential and forensic examination.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect is a distributor of narcotic drugs within Berekum and its surrounding communities.
He is currently in police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be arraigned before court.
The statement was signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command.
