Chiefs and elders in a rural community in the Eastern Region have slaughtered a sheep to atone for the sins of a 35-year-old father and pacify the gods of the land after it emerged that he has impregnated his teenage step-daughter and had previously defiled his two biological daughters.
The man, named only as Issaka in reports was also asked to present Schnapps, three sheep, and other items as atonement for his incestuous behaviour.
The bizarre incident occurred at Kwahu Nsabaa in the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly of the Eastern Region.
The mother of the impregnated 17-year-old girl, Abena told Agoo News that her husband takes advantage of the children in her absence.

The chiefs in the area poured libation to cleanse the community following the abominable act.
It is believed that such incestuous acts bring misfortune to communities.
The chief of Kwahu Nsabaa, Nana Osei Twum Barimah, expressed shock over the matter adding that this is the first of its kind after 30 years of his installation as chief.
He said the punishment will serve as a deterrent to others.
“This is unbelievable, Nananom has poured libation to cleanse the land, it is up to the family to report the matter to the police for the necessary action to be taken. The libation was taken after the children confirmed to us that, their father has been engaging in sexual intercourse with them. The stepdaughter also confirmed the man is responsible for the pregnancy, and he also admitted something of that sort happened,” he recounted.
Reports about the weird incident did not mention the involvement of the police.
It is common in many rural areas of Ghana for chiefs and elders to intervene in such criminal sexual offences.
