The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed newly promoted teachers to ignore requests to submit application letters and other documents for the processing of salary adjustments.
In a statement dated August 22, 2026, the GES said it had received concerns from some newly promoted teachers who had allegedly been asked to submit application letters alongside their promotion letters and other documents to have their salaries adjusted to reflect their new ranks.
The GES clarified that teachers promoted to new ranks are automatically placed on the appropriate salary scale to reflect their new positions.
“This existing practice has not changed,” the statement said.
The Service therefore advised teachers to ignore any request to submit documents for salary adjustments.
GES said management was engaging the few regions and districts allegedly making such requests and called for calm among teachers.
