The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced a 15-hour power supply interruption in parts of the Greater Accra Region today, Sunday, August 23, to facilitate the replacement of a damaged transmission tower at the Ashaiman section of the 161kV Tema-Achimota transmission line.Ghana Regional News
The interruption is expected to run from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. as GRIDCo undertakes the next phase of the tower replacement works.
According to GRIDCo, the transmission tower was damaged following a tanker explosion nearby.
In a statement issued on Saturday, August 22, GRIDCo said its engineers and technical teams will use the period to safely undertake the remaining work required to restore the integrity of the transmission line.
The company said the planned works will require power supply to some locations in the Greater Accra Region to be interrupted.
GRIDCo added that it is collaborating with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to mitigate the impact of the power interruption on customers and communities in the affected areas.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this interruption will cause and request the patience, understanding and cooperation of the public as GRIDCO works progressively to complete this critical work,” the statement concluded.
