The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced that the government has begun feasibility studies for a new Accra-Kumasi motorway.

He stated that a project he classified as a “top national priority” is expected to be completed within two and a half years.

The minister made this statement during a meeting with H.E. Mr. Abdullah Kh Almusai’bee, President of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), on Wednesday in Accra.

“I will not borrow for consumption but for transformative projects like this,” he stated, emphasizing that future borrowing will strictly be directed toward ventures with lasting economic and social impact.

He also reported that Ghana’s debt sustainability has “improved significantly.”

Dr. Forson commended BADEA’s longstanding support, calling their contributions to Ghana’s social sector “a blessing.”

BADEA President H.E. Mr. ALMUSAIBEEH welcomed the Minister’s proposals and expressed the Bank’s willingness to support impactful projects.
