The Ministry of the Interior has announced the release of funds to settle outstanding rent allowance arrears owed to personnel of the Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service and Ghana Immigration Service for 2025.

According to the Ministry, the payment covers all eligible officers across the three services who were affected by the delay. Officials expressed appreciation for the patience shown by personnel during the period the allowances remained unpaid.

In a further development, the Ministry disclosed that the rent allowance system has now been mechanised to prevent future delays. Beginning March 2026, rent allowances will be processed and paid alongside officers’ monthly salaries.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of personnel under its supervision, adding that it will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Finance and other stakeholders to ensure timely payment of all entitlements.
