Former President John Kufuor has paid a courtesy call on President John Mahama to commiserate with him following the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of his two Ministers and six others.

This follows a statement in which Mr. Kufuor extended his heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the victims who perished while serving the nation.

He urged the nation to honour the memory of the departed through renewed compassion, solidarity, and a deepened commitment to national service.

The victims were Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, and former Obuasi East parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye.

The rest were three crew members and personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF): Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, while they were on their way to Obuasi for a national assignment.

The bodies of the deceased have since been recovered and are undergoing forensic examination and identification, while tributes continue to pour in their honour.
