Kumasi floods death toll rises to 10

The death tool of the victims of the flood in Kumasi has increased to ten, according to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).

The flooding on Thursday June 28, 2018, swept through various areas in Kumasi, killing six people in the process.

But rescue team, made of the NADMO officials, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Police Service and other security agencies says they have retrieve four more dead bodies since Sunday, bringing the figure to ten.

The Ashanti Regional NADMO Director, Kwabena Senkyire, who revealed this to Prime News Ghana, said the search for either survivors or those who perished during the flooding are on since people are still missing after the heavy downpour.

The body of a 50-year-old mother of three, Susanna Kudanu, who got drown during a heavy rain downpour at Asabi in the Asokore Mampong Municipality, is yet to be found, despite a thorough search by the family members and the community as NADMO retrieves four bodies from River Sissa.

The deceased, who is a dress-maker, hailed from the Volta, together with other four people including her own three children and an apprentice, got drowned in the evening of the fateful night when their shop got flooded with water from River Sissa which had over flown its banks.

Four others, Diana Abuga, 25, Louisa Kudanu Delali 13, Mona Lisa Mensah, 12, Christian Wolanyo Mansu, were found dead in the shop after the water in the shop was drained but Susanna Kudanu, the owner of the shop was not found.
