The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man captured in a viral video discharging a firearm at a public event held at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said the suspect was arrested by its Cyber Vetting Team following investigations into the incident, which occurred on December 28, 2025.

The suspect has been identified as Abubakari Sadick, popularly known as “Cyborg.” He was arrested on December 29, 2025, at Adenta for the possession and discharge of a firearm.

According to the police, the weapon used in the incident, a Derya MK-12 shotgun bearing registration number 22-GHA-1162—has been retrieved and secured as evidence.

The CID indicated that the suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with investigations. He is expected to be put before a court to face charges in accordance with the law.

The Ghana Police Service has cautioned the public that possession of a registered firearm does not grant the holder the right to discharge it indiscriminately, particularly at public events. The police warned that firearm licences can be revoked, and offenders may face prosecution.

The Service reiterated its commitment to maintaining public safety and urged the public to report any suspicious or unlawful activities involving firearms.
