The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Isaac Boafo, also known as “Duabo King,” for allegedly publishing false information intended to cause fear and panic.
The arrest follows a viral video circulated on TikTok in which the suspect claimed that four officers stationed at the Central Police Station in Kumasi had engaged in inappropriate conduct with commercial sex workers during night patrols at Asafo.
According to the Ghana Police Service, officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate in the Ashanti Region apprehended the suspect after acting on intelligence.
During interrogation, Isaac Boafo admitted to publishing the video and identified himself as a social media content creator. He reportedly told investigators that he made the allegations to attract views and online engagement and could not provide any evidence to support the claims.
Police further disclosed that the suspect acknowledged making additional comments concerning the President of the Republic for content creation purposes and admitted he could not substantiate those statements.
He has since been formally charged and remains in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.
The Police Command has cautioned the public against publishing and sharing false information, particularly on social media, warning that such actions can create unnecessary fear, panic, and reputational harm.
Authorities stressed that individuals found engaging in such conduct will face legal consequences.
