Prof Gyampo has said irrespective of his reservations on the Ghana-US deal, he will score president Nana Addo a pass mark of 70% for his much-awaited address on the Military agreement yesterday April 5, 2018.

“I am happy you have spoken on this matter. I am quite elated because I whispered into the ears of some people about the need for you to speak as Father of the nation and assure us about your commitment to safeguarding our security.”

According to the Professor of political science, President Nana Addo’s address to Ghanaians was done eloquently and that he is in full support of the President's statement that the hypocrisy of the typical Ghanaian politician must always be exposed. He added that “I liked the rhetorical question that interrogated how a document destined to parliament could be described as secret”

In a post on his Facebook wall, Prof Gyampo said his point of departure from the President’s address which to him was not fair enough was the fact President Nana Addo refused to clarify the difference between the current military agreement and the previous ones.

“There are some slight differences between the previous agreements and the current one. Unfortunately, you were silent on the differences. That wasn't fair and transparent enough.”

Prof Gyampo also cautioned Parliament on the way their activities are carried out and its repercussions on Ghana’s Democracy.

“Friends, our democracy won't grow if the minority would always have their mere say while the majority enjoys their way. The minority members must be encouraged to stay even if they want to walk out. Similarly, the majority must be encouraged to be magnanimous and willing to factor minority views into their stance on issues. It doesn't advance the interest of substantive democracy to always use numbers, because the majority cannot always be right.”
