One armed robber has been shot and killed by the Tema Police at at suspected armed robbery training camp at Community 3.
The deceased was a member of a robbery gang which attacked a steel manufacturing company at the Tema Heavy Industrial area at 2am on Saturday and robbed a Chinese expatriate of his valuable items.
Upon a tip-off after the robbery, the police stormed the hideout of the robbers at Ramsar site, and to their surprise, discovered a shooting range where suspected armed robbers were using empty plastic bottles as targets in order to perfect their shooting before going on their illicit operations.
The suspected robber upon seeing the police opened fire on them and the police returned fire killing one instantly.
Two others are currently on the run and are being hunted by the police.
A total of 72 cartridges and several empty plastic bottles which served as targets for the shooting rehearsals were retrieved by the police.
At a media briefing Sunday, the Tema Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Juliana Obeng urged the public to help the police arrest the fugitives.
