Ghanaians have since time immemorial badmouthed personnel of the Ghana Police Service for being the worst when it comes to responding to calls when their service is urgently needed.

There have been many accounts by individuals who share their experience of extremely slow police response during life threatening situations and how they have lost trust in the Ghana Police when it comes to resolving crime.

The recent spate of armed robberies in the country have added to the many doubts some Ghanaians have about the competence of Police personnel as there is much left to be done to beef up security in the country.

Contrary to popular belief however, some Ghanaians recently showered praises on the Ghana Police for their level of responsiveness to an emergency call following an attempted robbery.

A Facebook user took to the social media platform to commend the Police for arriving at her residence barely 10 minutes after a 191 call was placed to alert them of a robbery.

She posted, "Wow ... Ghana Police has really surprised me ... my family and I were almost robbed at home and just a low key call to 191 with my home address and direction... armed police men with two patrol cars arrived in less than 10 minutes... We thank God for our lives and secondly to the police.... I’m so grateful...."

Several Ghanaians reacted to the post with most acknowledging the good performance of the Policemen and urged others to commend them when need be, while others questioned why they were not equipped with bullet proof jackets in the event the robbers engaged them in a gun-fight.

Meanwhile the Police administration has arned the publice to beware of fake news of criminal incidents on social media aimed at causing fear and alarm to the public. They have also assured Ghanaians of vigorous efforts including patrolling crime hot spots, intelligence gathering and reviewing operations to frustrate criminal activities in the counrty.

The Emergency number to contact the Ghana Police service is 191, however, one can call to make general enquiries on +233 302 779300/ +233 302 779302 or email hq.pro@police.gov.gh.
