A fire outbreak at a compound house near the Mosque at Tudu in Accra has been fully extinguished.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, "no injuries or fatalities were recorded."

The fire, which broke out at about 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at house number EV 9/2, had already spread by the time firefighters arrived.

The Accra City Fire Station responded within four minutes, arriving at the scene at 1:19 p.m. to find an advanced blaze.

Due to the rapid spread of the fire, limited water supply and accessibility challenges, the duty officer called in three additional fire tenders to support the operation. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control by 2:32 p.m., with full containment achieved at 3:47 p.m.

Seven rooms and their contents were completely destroyed in the blaze, including cash amounting to GH¢1,200. However, the swift intervention by firefighters helped salvage 18 rooms and their contents.

Investigations have been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
