The Member of Parliament for the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency, Honorable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has championed the commencement of an electricity expansion project for the constituency.

The project which was initiated some time in August 2017 is aimed at connecting over thirty communities in the constituency to the national grid, and is expected to bring development to the communities which hitherto were unserved with electricity.

The three-month project expected to be completed by October and 2018 will provide major communities such as Sukuran, Apete, Paawudu, Bentenase, Chin, Adonkonsua and surrounding communities with electricity and free installation of meters.

The project is in addition to the extension of electricity to 3000 households by the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah explained that these projects are aimed at improving the lives of residents in his constituency. He added that the supply of electricity to the area would contribute immensely to the socio-economic lives of residents.

“All we are seeking to do is to step up the quality of life here. Students in these areas can finally read and study at night . Parents can also do some business when the day loses its light. This is definitely a positive boost to the lives of residents here” he remarked.

The MP vowed to do more to bring developmental projects to the people of Ofoase-Ayirebi to empower residents.

DCE Paul Asamoah has also commended contractors and urged them to ensure that quality standards, as well as timelines, are met.

Contractors working on the project assured the MP and DCE of meeting the timelines for the execution of the project and vowed to execute the project to the best of their abilities.
