In a bid to o lure Togolese nationals to register and vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain power, the government has embarked on the construction of roads and other development projects in Togolese villages around the border.
 Giving an example of the projects, the Volta Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Amewu alleged that government had extended electricity from the Volta Region to Kametornu, a village in Togo in order to entice the people of Kametornu to vote for President John Mahama come November 7.
 He stated that the NPP was reliably informed that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) was prepared to bus in Togolese nationals through unapproved routes to register in the Electoral Commission’s limited registration exercise which starts Thursday, April 28.
But Deputy General Secretary of NDC, Koku Anyidohu, has dismissed the claim as an “obtuse speculationâ€.
“I don’t think we are going to allow the NPP to derail usâ€, he said, adding this bout of claims by the NPP demonstrates it is not prepared for the limited registration exercise.
