Member of Parliament (MP) for the Adansi Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region, Kobina Tahiru 'KT' Hammond has stated that he is not perturbed by attempts from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to snatch his seat in the upcoming parliamentry elections.

The NDC has targeted the Adansi Asokwa seat as part of 13 seats in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stronghold, the Ashanti Region which they will snatch in the December 7 polls.

President John Mahama during his campaign tour of the region last week hinted that opinion polls conducted in some nine constituencies including Adansi Asokwa suggested that the NDC were going to win those seats to add to the four; Ahafo Ano North, Sekyere Afram Plains, Asawase and New Edubiase; seats they won in 2012.

Indeed, spokesperson for the NDC's regional campaign team, Samed Akalilu is on record to have said, “we are retiring K.T Hammond in Adansi Asokwa".

But speaking on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen on Friday, Mr Hammond discounted the NDC's claims saying, "they are just making noise but I"ll retain the Adansi Asokwa seat".

"I am the hope of Adansi Asokwa. I am a potential minister in Nana Akufo-Addo's government so they will retain me" but my focus is to "stop NDC from rigging the polls in my constituency. As for the seat, I'm retaining it hands down", he emphasised.

According to him, because he always speaks the truth, leaders of the NDC were afraid of him that is why they are bent on taking my seat.

"My common fund is being withheld by the DCE because NDC wants to take the seat but I won't panic at all", he added.
