NDC Flagbearer aspirant, Alban Bagbin has said the upcoming primaries of the party will not be credible if issues raised against the current voters' register are not addressed.

Speaking on StarrFM on Thursday, February 14, in a bid to lead the NDC in the 2020 general elections, Alban Bagbin said the current register will not give equal opportunity to all candidates in the race.

Some of the flagbearer aspirants of the NDC have raised concern over the absence of pictures, telephone numbers and ID numbers of the voters captured on the register.

According to them, this will not help the candidates to easily identify the voters, they petitioned the party's election technical committee who later responded, given them assurance that they will work on rectifying the problem.

But Alban Bagbin said the election is far approaching and there is no sign of the party putting in place plans to rectify the problem.

He also outlined some of the problems that he thinks is wrong with the register.

"What is happening today is that we have a challenge with the voters register that they have given us, let me just give a tip of what is contained in the register, as we sit now we know that Volta region has 26 constituency, the register covers only 25, if you go through the register there are a number of constituencies which are captured from Volta region but without their constituency executives that are not captured.

"You see in the register a name like Joana that's all, Andrew that's all, there are no ID numbers, no telephone numbers and no pictures," he added.

The flagbearer aspirant also said the challenge with the register will give room for certain people to take advantage of it and partake in unlaw things.

"How this be a free and fair election with this happening, yes it applies to all of us but it has given an opportunity for others to be able to do a lot of unlawful things and we are just calling for the right thing to be done."
