The People's National Convention has locked up the office of embattled General Secretary, Atik Mohammed to deny him entry into the party's headquarters in Accra.

The decision according to party executives was necessary as Mr Mohammed has refused to heed to directives from the party.

The PNC at its extraordinary National Executive Council meeting held on July 22, concluded that Mr Mohammed had misconducted himself and violated the party’s constitution. A vote of no confidence was passed leading to his suspension.

But Mr Mohammed has since refused to accept the decision maintaining that he still holds the position of the General Secretary of the party. He has also been reporting to the party office on daily bases to perform his duties.

Executives of the party in an attempt to practically get Mr.Mohammed out, locked up the office which got him stranded upon arrival to carry out his normal duties on Tuesday.

Vice Chairman of the PNC, Henry Asante who locked up the office said, the suspended General Secretary was supposed to hand over all possessions to the party on July 28 but failed to do so.

The party he said, was left with no choice than to lock up the office with only the 2016 Flag bearer, Dr Edward Mahama and the Vice Chairman having access to the keys to the office.

Meanwhile, Atik Mohammed has sued the party for suspending him and would be heading to court to get him reinstated.

Lawyer for Atik Mohammed has accused the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) of overstepping its bounds in its decision to suspend their client.
