The MP for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Dzata George has said he will appear before the Commission of Inquiry probing the Ayawaso by-election violence in defiance of his party's decision to boycott the commission's hearing.

In a reply to one Nana Osei-Asibey Osafo under his post on Facebook on Thursday, February 14, Sam George said: "I will be appearing before the committee."

Sam George is a person of interest in the Ayawaso by-election violence, footage from the scene revealed how the MP was assaulted by some masked security men on the election day at the La Baweleshie polling station.

He was later invited by the Police to provide his statement to aid in investigating the violence.

The President has set up a three-member Committee to probe the incident to ascertain what brought about the violence and make recommendations for further actions to be taken. But the NDC in a statement banned all its members from appearing before the commission.

According to the statement, the NDC “would not be part of any scheme to cover up or create immunity for the perpetrators.” But it appears the MP for Ningo Prampram will disobey the decision of the party and appear before the commission.
