AFCON 2023: Black Stars open camp in Kumasi ahead of tournament (photos)

Twenty-four players trained on day one of the Black Stars training camp in Kumasi.

The team opened a nine-day camping in Kumasi on Monday, January 2, 2024 ahead of AFCON 2023 to be staged in Cote D’Ivoire.

After a thorough inspection of the Baba Yara Sports stadium and the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports complex at Abrankese, the technical team led by Chris Hughton, decided to move the first day training to the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex due to the unfavorable state of the pitch at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.

The 24 players who trained on Tuesday included, Joseph Wollacott, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Alidu Seidu, Denis Odoi, Kingsley Schindler, Gideon Mensah, Abdul Fatawu Hamid, Nicholas Opoku and Daniel Amartey.

The rest are, Salisu Mohammed, Alexander Djiku, Baba Iddrisu, Elisha Owusu, Abdul Samed Salis, Richmond Lamptey, Majeed Ashimeru, Andre Ayew, Ransford Yeboah Koningsdorffer, Osman Bukari, Joseph Painstil, Ernest Nuamah, Antoine Semenyo and Jonathan Sowah.

Ghana will play one international friendly against Namibia on Monday, January 8, 2024.
