Augustine Arhinful, ex-Black Stars striker is tasking Asante Kotoko to take the Normalization Committee's special competition serious as part of preparations for the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

The Porcupine Warriors advanced to the group stage of the CAF Confederation after beating Coton Sport 5-3 on aggregate. The qualification makes them break an 11-year jinx of not progressing to the group stages of any CAF inter-club competition.

The Reds were pitted against Al Hilal of Sudan and Zambia duo Nkana FC and Zesco United in Group C in Monday's draw.

Arhinful opines the special competition will aid the Porcupine Warriors in their preparations for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup since officially organized football has been dormant.

“I believe this competition that the Normalization Committee is trying to organize if it should come around I think it should come in handy for Kotoko. They should take it seriously in anticipation of playing the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup”, Arhinful said in an interview on Class FM.

He further admonished the Reds to wary of their opponents.

“I watched Zesco play Kaizer Chiefs and believe you me they are a very good side. Nkana I have watched them play the Zambian league severally on television-Dstv, and they are also a good side. Their league is ongoing and so we can say that in terms of teamwork they should be ahead of us”, he added

Asante Kotoko will start the CAF Confederation Cup Campaign with a trip to Sudan to play Al Hilal on February 3.
