Black Queens miss out on WAFCON final after penalty shootout defeat to Morocco

Ghana’s Black Queens have missed out on the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final after a tense semifinal clash with hosts Morocco, which ended in a penalty shootout defeat.

The game, played at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, ended 1-1 after extra time, sending both teams into a dramatic shootout.

Morocco edged out Ghana 4-3 on penalties, sealing their spot in the final and dashing Ghana’s hopes of winning their first WAFCON title.

The Black Queens put up a spirited performance throughout the match but were unable to capitalize on key chances. Despite the loss, the team has earned praise for their overall tournament performance.

Morocco will now advance to the final to face Nigeria, while Ghana looks ahead to the third-place playoff against South Africa.
