Premier League side Coventry City have reached an agreement to sign Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi from Danish club FC Nordsjælland in a record-breaking transfer deal.
Coventry are set to pay €27 million for the services of the highly-rated midfielder, with €3 million included in performance-related add-ons. The move is expected to become the biggest sale in the history of the Danish Superliga.
The 20-year-old is believed to have chosen Frank Lampard’s Coventry City project due to the promise of a significant role in the team and guaranteed playing opportunities.
The club are prepared to break their existing transfer record to secure the signature of the talented Ghana international.
Only a successful medical examination and the completion of contract formalities remain before Yirenkyi officially becomes a Coventry player on a long-term deal.
The midfielder is expected to travel to England soon to undergo his medical before being unveiled by the club by the close of the week.
FC Nordsjælland will benefit greatly from the deal, having built a reputation for developing and selling top talents.
The Danish club have previously produced players such as Mohammed Kudus, Patrick Dorgu and Sindre Walle Egeli, who have gone on to play in the Premier League.
Yirenkyi’s move comes after an impressive spell with Nordsjælland, where he established himself as one of the club’s key players. Last season, he made 30 appearances across competitions, scoring two goals and providing six assists.
The midfielder also represented Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
