Players in the Ghana Premier League will receive attractive remunerations following an initiative launched by Sports Cul Ghana Limited in Accra yesterday, which will inject huge amounts into clubs and players as well as sports development in general.

Each player in the premiership according to officials of the outfit would receive GHC2000 as salaries while division one and women’s league players would receive GHC1000.

The amount would complement what they receive at their clubs as part of efforts to motivate them to give out their best.

An executive at Sports Cul, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu Asare added that, referees would also receive GHC3000 per match while the technical teams would also be paid a good amount.

“The media, supporters and old players would also have $800,000 for a year to able to go about their duties effectively,” he added.

In all, Sports Cul, sponsored by its United Arab Emirates partners would invest 44 million dollars into all activities for the year.

According to him, coaches would also receive between GHC5000 to GHC10, 000 every month and each club would have two standard pitches in order to train and host matches.

The program would officially begin in February with the construction of the new pitches but the financial provisions would be made when the league begins in December.

Aside football, beach soccer would also be supported with funds with each player also receiving GHC1, 000 as salary as well as boxing and athletics.

The move according to Dr. Asare is to encourage players to ply their trade in Ghana until they are matured enough.

“That would go a long way to ensure that our football and other local competitions become very attractive as the issue of money would be handled,” he stated.

All stakeholders in sports he said would be covered to ensure that everyone puts in effort to help develop sports in Ghana.

Sports Cul emerged from “Sports and Culture” and the organization is aimed at developing sports in the country by providing the needed funds and infrastructure.
