Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper Kweku Baako says he is expecting Asamoah Gyan to decline the position of General Captain offered him by the GFA Normalisation Committee.

According to Kweku Baako, the position is of no value and Asamoah Gyan should not hold that position.

"This whole animal called General Captain, Asamoah should have delined it, it is of no value, I expect him to decline it."

As a panellist on Joy FM's news analysis programme on Saturday, May 25, Kweku Baako said with all the emerging issues coming from the Black Stars it is likely they will not win the trophy at the 2019 African Cup of Nations to be held in Egypt.

Asamoah Gyan elevated to General Captaincy role

Black Stars coach, Kwasi Appiah has named André Ayew as the permanent captain of the team.

This follows a meeting with the top brass of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalization Committee (NC) after which approval and full backing was granted to the plans of the coach.

Ayew replaces Asamoah Gyan, as captain of the Black Stars. Gyan, who has captained the Black Stars for a record seven years has been elevated to the position of "General Captain".

Subsequently, Kwadwo Asamoah has been named the deputy captain.

Asamoah Gyan rescinds decision of retirement

"I have taken the request of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in good faith and will make myself available for selection by Coach Kwesi Appiah"
