Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew was on target for Swansea City as they beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 to progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The match which lacked any spark was brought to life when Jordan a half-time substitute slotted home in the 53rd minute after a Tom Carroll effort struck the woodwork twice.

In the 80th minute, winger Nathan Dyer was on hand to double the Swans’ lead after getting on the end of a Tammy Abraham pass.

The Ghanaian emerged Man of the Match after his electric display and earned praises from manager Carlos Carvahal.

"At the break, we weren't happy with the score. We needed more energy and intensity, so we brought on Martin Olsson and Jordan Ayew and they had a big impact," the manager said. "Two or three minutes into the second half I thought things would change."

Swansea City reached the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 1964.
