FIFA has announced a change of venue for Ghana’s penultimate 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR).

The fixture, initially scheduled for El Jadida, will now take place at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes in Morocco on Tuesday, October 8, 2025.

CAR, who have been forced to host their home matches in Morocco due to the lack of an approved stadium in their country, will have limited home advantage—a situation that could favour the Black Stars.

Ghana, in a strong position on the qualifying table, require four points from their remaining two games against CAR and Comoros to secure a place at their fifth World Cup.

A win in Meknes, coupled with slip-ups from their closest challengers, could confirm qualification with one match to spare.

Match officials for the encounter have also been confirmed. Mauritius’ Patrice Milazare will referee the game, assisted by compatriot Louis Ralph Fabien Cauvelet and Seychelles’ Shaji Padayachy. Another Seychellois, Noris Aaron Godfrey Arissol, will serve as the fourth official.

Senegal’s Fatou Gaye has been named referee assessor, with Morocco’s Jamal Kaouachi acting as match commissioner and Nigeria’s Efughu Odochi Joan appointed as security officer.

After the game against Central African Republic, the Black Stars will take on Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium in the final group game on Sunday, October 12.
