The National Tripartite Committee has announced that Ghana’s daily minimum wage for 2026 will be GH¢21.77, effective January 1, 2026.
According to the Committee, the decision was reached after careful consideration of the country’s cost of living and the current economic environment.
Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, together with Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, signed the agreement on behalf of the government.
Representing employers, Nana Dr. Emmanuel Adu Sarkodie signed for the Ghana Employers Association, while Mr. Joshua Ansah, Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), signed on behalf of organised labour.
“All stakeholders took into account the need to maintain a fair balance between workers’ welfare and business sustainability,” the Committee said in a joint statement.
The statement further cautioned all establishments, institutions, and organisations paying below the new minimum wage to adjust their rates accordingly effective January 1, 2026. It warned that “any establishment, institution, or organisation that flouts the 2026 National Daily Minimum Wage shall be sanctioned in accordance with the law.”
The Tripartite Committee also recommended that the 2026 daily minimum wage be exempt from taxation, to further ease the financial burden on workers.
