Three editors of an online news outlet in Accra, ModernGhana have been apprehended by a group of men introducing themselves as National Security operatives who stormed their office yesterday, June 27 2019.

Editor-In-Chief of ModernGhana, William Nana Beeko said the raid was carried out after a publication was made about the National security minister Albert Kan Dapaah and New Patriotic Party MP Afenyo-Markin.

Mr Beeko said laptops belonging to the online news outlet were seized in the course of the raid and the whereabouts of his colleagues remain unknown.

Speaking to Starr FM, Beeko who is on leave said, “We don’t know where they are now. The incident happened today [Thursday].”

A close associate of one of the arrested reporters known as Emmanuel Brintwum also said: “all efforts to know where exactly they have taken them have proven futile.”

“We have tried the lines of his editors but it has not been fruitful. Emmanuel only managed to call a friend saying he is in the custody of national security,” the associate said.

Meanwhile, the National Security is yet to make any official pronouncement on the raid. ModernGhana has been in operation since 2005.
