The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has threatened industrial action over what they described as the failure on the part of government to address concerns of poor conditions of service, including rent allowance.

The workers say government has turned deaf ears to their plight over the years, leaving them with no option than to endure the harsh working conditions.

The Judiciary Service of Ghana has been coupled with a lot of issues, including accommodation, adequate court complexes in the various districts to fast-track justice delivery process making it difficult for the Judicial system to live up to its task.

Some individuals believe the bad condition of service will force the Judiciary to be corrupt.

President of JUSAG Alex Nartey said Government and its functionaries want to treat the Judiciary and the judicial service like any other organ but we are not the same.

He added, "when the Judiciary or the judicial service sends a budget to Parliament, it shouldn’t even be reviewed. We all concede we need to be prudent and control spending, but before they bring the cut and sealing, do they do any scientific study of the needs of the Judiciary and the judicial service before they determine those cutoff points?"
