The National Disaster Management Organisation, NADMO has disclosed that the death toll in last week's floods in Kumasi has risen to 7.

Two more bodies were retrieved at Aboabo over the weekend.

At Aboabo, the body of an unidentified man suspected to be in his thirties was found while at Sokoban the body of a two-year-old was found.

The Ashanti Regional Administrator of NADMO, Nana Atakora Manu made this known.

He said the successive rains led to the floods.

The first body was recovered at Atafoa, second at Sokoban and the third at Anloga on the Susan bridge.

Heavy rains last week in the Ashanti Region left devastation in its wake as Kumasi, the regional capital, and its environs were flooded.

The newly built Kejetia Market in Kumasi, along with properties running into thousands of Ghana Cedis were destroyed by the floods.

Kumasi faces a perennial flooding challenge and last week’s floods at the Kejetia Market and its environs are not new.

The central business district of Adum was not spared on Thursday, June 24, 2021.

Reports indicate that areas such as Anloga Junction, Dagomba Line, KNUST and Airport Roundabout all got flooded.
