The Foreign Ministry of Ghana has discounted a statement claiming President Nana Akufo Addo has summoned the US Ambassador to Ghana Robert Porter Jackson to the Flagstaff House today Monday, January 15, 2018.

Over the Weekend, the statement allegedly signed by the Foreign Minister made rounds in the media and was widely reported.

"We wish to draw the attention of the United States that Africans, Caribbeans and Haitians are very responsible people who have over the years, presented their positions on issues in the best of their interests." It said

However, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey in a statement today January 15, 2018, stated that the alleged statement summoning the US Ambassador was not from her outfit and must be treated with all the contempt it deserves.

U.S Embassy in Ghana distances itself from the ‘shithole’ comments

The United States Embassy in Ghana has distanced itself from the alleged comments made by US President Donald Trump belittling African countries and persons of African descent.

United States Embassy in a tweet says it has great respect for the people in Africa commitment to Ghana.
“Our commitment to Ghana and all our African partners remains strong. It’s an honour for our staff to serve here alongside Ghanaians, and we deeply value our relationship with them,” the tweet added.

It has widely been reported that Donald Trump had described some African nations as ‘shithole countries.’
The alleged statements were reported to have been made in a meeting at the White House to consider migrant policies, were said to have also been made in reference to Haiti and El Salvador.

President Trump has since dismissed the claims, however, White House communicators have however failed to categorically deny that he made those comments
