A soldier identified as Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Mensah Williams of the Ghana Air Force has been arrested by military police for allegedly assaulting a young woman and a pharmacist at Burma Camp in Accra.

According to sources within the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the incident occurred earlier this week when the soldier, who is reportedly attached to the Office of the Chief of Staff, physically attacked the victims inside a pharmacy located within the camp.

A widely circulated video of the incident shows a tall, dark-complexioned man angrily confronting the pharmacist before slapping him and then turning on a female customer. The footage further shows the soldier delivering several blows to the woman’s head after she attempted to record the altercation on her phone.

Eyewitnesses described the assault as unprovoked, leaving the victims visibly shaken.

Following the attack, military police personnel intervened and arrested WO1 Williams. He has since been handed over to the Cantonments Police for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Ghana Armed Forces have not yet issued an official statement on the incident. However, military sources indicate that disciplinary proceedings are likely to be initiated against the soldier in line with internal regulations should he be found guilty of misconduct.

The incident has sparked widespread concern within the military community, with calls for swift and firm disciplinary action to serve as a deterrent and to uphold the image and professionalism of the Ghana Armed Forces.
