In relation of the Ayawaso by election probing by the Emile Short Commission of Inquiry, the Police SWAT boss DSP Azugu said the masked man who assaulted Sam George is one of his men.

He disclosed this when he appeared before the Emile Short Commission at the Osu Castle to investigate the violence that took place during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

At the sitting, he identified that the man who assaulted Ningo Prampram MP, Sam George as one of his men.

"I was there but did not see it physically with my eyes because of the location of my vehicle, he is a civilian counterpart''

He explained what transpired between civilian operatives and the Ningo Prampram Member of Parliament and said that he is ready to give the name of the masked man who assaulted Sam George.

SWAT boss before the Commission said the team was made up of 25 police officers and 35 civilian operatives.

According to him, the civilian operatives worked as informants between the community and National security council and it is needed they mask themselves whilst carrying operations.

He said:''The men are used as civilian officers to give us valuable information from areas where most of us cannot do so we tend to make them use the mask to disguise themselves also the mask is not for a bad motive''

According to him, the civilian operatives of the National Security was only used for intelligence gathering purposes and as such were not made to carry weapons.

The SWAT boss also said the personnel from the National Security at Ayawaso was only intended to build confidence and not to result in violence at the consistency.
