General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, John Boadu says he is a beneficiary of the works of the party vigilante groups.

Testifying before the Ayawaso Commission on Monday, March 4, John Boadu said the men belonging to these vigilante groups protected him from impending assault in the Ashanti Region 2016.

According to him, the men are not thugs but party members who organised themselves during events to provide support for the party.

"I in person I am a beneficiary of this groupings, I remember in 2016 there was a re-registration exercise and a day before I've heard a lot of challenges happening in the Asunafo area, i decided as the acting general secretary to visit the area, on my way i decided when i got to Kumasi ask some of our young men to join me to those areas, at one polling station there was this gentleman calling himself Naaba and he is the brother of Collins Dauda and that we are in Accra making noise about their activities here, today you are here with me, and he said he will deal with me, had it not being the presence of these gentlemen that accompanied me it should have been a different story."

The NPP General Secretary also admitted that vigilante groups, Delta Forces and Invincible Forces are affiliated to the NPP.

"The members of Invincible Forces, Bolga Bulldogs, Delta Force and Kandahar Boys are members of the NPP"

He also stated that the groups are not owned by the NPP and not sponsored by the NPP. Speaking on the relevance of the party vigilante groups, John Boadu said: "as political parties, it will be difficult for the police to provide security for us given the fact that they are often outnumbered at the polling stations".
