For Ghana to continue enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of religious tolerance and harmony, we must all place emphasis and prioritize our common values and what binds us together.

This according to President Akufo-Addo would ensure Ghana continues to hold on to is enviable title as an oasis of peace in the West African sub-region.

Speaking at a ceremony to  mark Eid-ul Fitr in Accra,  He called on all Ghanaians to cherish the long existing bond within us and focus mainly on things that brings us together rather than the ones that divide us.

Eid-ul Fitr is celebrated by Muslims to observe the end of the Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar. Healthy adult Muslims are expected to fast from dawn until dusk and observe certain practices which include abstaining from drinking, eating, immoral acts and anger. Other acts of worship such as prayer, reading the Quran and charity are also encouraged during Ramadan.

The president urged Muslims to let these sacrificial practices guide their quest for peace and national unity.

He lauded the National Chief Imam for his religious tolerance that has contributed to peaceful co-existence between all religious group in the country.
