Ministers weep at Mahama's final cabinet meeting before handing over

Outgoing President, John Dramani Mahama, saw his last cabinet meeting with his cabinet ministers draw out the emotional sides of his appointees, with many shedding tears in what was an emotional encounter.

According to a report by PeaceFMOnline.com, majority of the ministers who attended President Mahama’s last cabinet meeting were left teary after conceiving the fact that it will be their last meeting with the number one man of the land before he hands over power.

President Mahama lost in the 2016 elections to New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo and will subsequently hand over power on 7th January. The outoing president, however, held his last cabinet meeting on Tuesday with some ministers to say a final goodbye.

But the atmosphere in the meeting turned emotional when most of the ministers present broke down in tears as John Mahama delivered his last speech as president.

According to the report, Member of Parliament for Odododiodio constituency, Hon Nii Lante Vanderpuije disclosed the information in an interview with Radio Gold on Wednesday.

The minister is quoted as saying the mood of the cabinet ministers became so subdued that President Mahama and his vice, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, stepped in to console them.

The president, the vice president and 19 ministers make up the cabinet.
