The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has asked the EC to cancel the votes in about 200 polling stations in the Ashanti and Eastern Region, where the party said over-voting occurred.

The party said it had evidence of over-voting in those polling stations.

The NDC representative at the EC’s National Collation Centre (Strong Room), Alhaji Haruna Rashid Ibrahim, said if the commission cancelled the results from those 200 polling stations it would cause a reduction in the votes gathered by Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Pary (NPP).

With 212 constituencies collated by the EC so far, Rashid Ibrahim said Mahama would maintain its slight edge over Akufo-Addo.

He said although the NDC had lost several parliamentary seats in the country, Mahama was performing better than Akufo-Addo.

Meanwhile, here is the Electoral Commission’s certified results for 230 out 275 constituencies:

NDC- 4,030,992 (44.16% of *valid* votes)

NPP- 5,022, 917 (55.03% of *valid* votes)

Rejected- 131,591 (1.42% of total votes cast)

Turnout - 58.61%
