Ghana preparing to conquer the world in 2020 Olympic Games

Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah has said, Ghana is preparing feverishly to conquer the world in the 2020 Olympic Games to be hosted in Japan.

The Minister who was interacting with the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana,  Kaoru Yoshimura and Japanese top athlete Dae Tamasue currently in the country, said he is optimistic Ghana would participate in several disciplines and win medals.

"We are currently preparing for the 2020 Olympic Games and certain with the support of Japan, we would win medals at the event,"he stated.

He asked the Japanese to offer the necessary support to Ghanaian athletes to ensure they are well trained to participate in the competition and bring home medals.

The Japanese Ambassador to Ghana in his response said, the purpose of Tamasue's visit to Ghana is to promote Japanese culture and values in Ghana through sports.

"It is also to bring to Ghana the spirit of the 2020 Olympic Games as the entire world prepare to be hosted by Japan at the event,"he stated.

Japan he said is committed to assisting Ghana is all sectors of development and would do same before, during and after the Olympic Games.

The athlete who was visiting Africa for the first time said, he would personally find an athlete who is interested in hurdles and train him for the future.

He would engage with athletes at the Accra Academy and Accra Sports Stadium in the search for potential top athletes to train for the future.

Officials of the National Sports Authority(NSA) and the Ghana Olympic Committee(GOC) also interacted with the athlete and shared ideas on the development of sports in the country.
