Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-1 to keep League Cup glory hopes alive

Liverpool has transferred their fine form under Jurden Klopp into the English League Cup as they put up a splendid performance to beat Tottenham 2-1 to qualify to the next stage of the competition.

Two goals from Daniel Sturridge in the ninth and 64th minute put the host Into the driving seat as they dictated the pace of the game with a switch attacking football.

Vincent Janseen gave Tottenham a consolation through a penalty but was not enough to prevent the visitors from defeat.

Arsenal also booked a place in the quarter finals stage after defeating Reading 2-0 with a brace from Oxlade Chamberlin.

Chamberlin had a superb game and scored for Arsenal in the 34th and 78th minute as the gunners walked away with a comfortable victory.

In other games, Hull City also defeated Briston City 2-1 with goals from Harry Maguine and Michael Dawson for Hull while Lee Tomlin got one back in the dying minutes of the game.

Newcastle were the biggest scorers on the night as they thrashed Preston North End 6-0 with Mitrovic scoring a hat trick,brace from Daime while Ayoze Perez also had a goal.

The match between Leeds United and Norwich at extra time was 2-2.

The winners would be waiting for the winners in tomorrow’s games with the biggest on the night between Manchester United and Manchester City.
