Sawla: Mobile Money vendor shot by suspected robbers

A mobile money vendor at Sawla in the Savannah Region is battling for his life after he was shot by suspected armed robbers on Saturday evening.

The incident happened at about 8:00pm when he was locking his shop after the day’s work.

Citinewsroom.com sources say the victim was shot by an assailant who was on a motorbike and his money snatched from him. He was subsequently rushed to the Sawla district hospital, where he was stabilised.

Another source told citinewsroom.com that the victim was on Sunday referred to the Tamale Teaching after initial challenges with shortage of oxygen at the hospital and ambulance.

The incident is the second time in four months that robbers have attacked mobile money vendors in the town.

On 9th December 2021, robbers shot and killed two people after robbing a mobile money vendor of his money and phone in the town.

Police in the region say they have commenced investigations into the latest incident
