The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced November 12, 2019, as the new re-opening date for second-year Senior High School (SHS) students who are on the Gold Track.

The students who are beneficiaries of the government's flagship Free Senior High School (SHS) programme were due to re-open on October 15 but the date was rescheduled following a meeting between the Management of GES and Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High School (CHASS).

A press release signed by the head of the GES Public Relations Unit, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, said the development would help parents, students, teachers, and education workers to make adequate preparations towards the re-opening of the new academic year.

"Management of Ghana Education Service (GES) announces for the information of the general public that the new date for reopening for 2nd year Gold Track is 12th November 2019 as against the previously announced date for 15th October 2019," the release said.

"The decision was arrived at during a joint meeting between the Management of GES and Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High School (CHASS) Executives.

"This means that form 2 Gold students are to report for the 1st semester of the 2019/2020 academic year on 12th November 2019 for academic work to begin".

The statement further advised the general public to take note of the new date and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
