The Education Minister, Mr Matthew Opoku Prempeh says the government is putting in measures to tackle the Computerised School Selection Placement System ( CSSPS) challenges once and for all.

His comments follow the problems that marred the CSSPS which resulted in hundreds of desperate parents and students who besieged the Accra Solution Centre set up by the GES at the Independence Square on Monday, September 16 2019.

Speaking at a Press briefing on Thursday in Accra, the Education Minister said government will put in place measures that will avert such instances from reoccurring next year.

“We are going to put in place measures so that this thing won’t happen next year. Another fact we have resolutions centres in 16 regions not only Greater Accra…in the 15 regions we never heard what happened in Accra''.

He also reiterated his claims that people were urged by the opposition to misbehave at the Independence Square to cause disaffection for the government.

Mr Opoku Prempeh said he believes some elements within the opposition were tasked to run down the placement system which resulted in chaos at the Independence Square on Monday.

“So maybe next year we will expand our call-in centres and increase the number of people so that people who want to take advantage of demonstrating can go to the police and demonstrate but not use the pretext of school placement system to portray and create the impression that it is the worst, this year is the best since we started in 2005 and the records are there to show.”

The Education Minister giving evidence to back the claims made reference to some text messages sent to his phone. He also made mention that some queen mothers came to his office to mention names of people involved in the act.

According to him, some security agencies have been notified by the actions taken by people in the opposition who created the text messages and that investigation into the issue is underway.
