The Minister for Education, Matthew Opoku Prempeh says some media houses have 'an agenda' to destroy the image of the Ministry of Education.

The Minister says there is a continuous media attack on the Education Ministry but he will not pay any attention to that and will continue to do his best.

Citing issues relating to the school placement system, abandoned school facilities and the recent controversial Comprehensive Sexuality Education framework, Matthew Opoku Prempeh said sections of the media were fond of dramatizing education issues and peddling and fabricating issues against the ministry but “we are ready for it.”

The Minister recently blamed some media houses for dramatizing the SHS placement issue and said the opposition NDC was behind.

The Minister who spoke at a media encounter in Kumasi said he is certain that Ghanaians will eventually get to know about the diligence and meticulous work of the Education Ministry.

“Some radio stations and media have set up stalls, going to catalogue schools that are in a state of disrepair, going to catalogue E-block schools that are uncompleted, dramatizing issues about placements, putting out outright fabrications on Comprehensive Sexuality Education. It looks like the Ministry of Education is suffering from a barrage of attacks but what I can say with certainty is that we are ready for it,” he said.

“We believe that the sunrise will rather expose the diligence that has been done. It will rather open up the meticulous work people in the ministry have done. It will rather open up to show real leadership in that ministry,” he added.

Aside blaming the media for dramatizing issues, the Minister even said some parents and their wards faked their collapse at the Independence Square.
