Philippe Coutinho looks set to complete his £142m from Liverpool to Barcelona today. The Brazilian playmaker looks set to light up the Camp Nou. Here are ten things you need to know about Philippe Coutinho.

1.First Barça player born 'post-Wembley'

Coutinho was born on 12 June 1992 in Río de Janeiro, Brazil, just 24 days after FC Barcelona had lifted the European Cup at Wembley, making him the first Blaugrana to be born after that historic victory. He is also the third player in the squad to be born in 1992 alongside Sergi Roberto and Marc-André ter Stegen.

2.77 goals and 337 games

The new Blaugrana has played in a total of 337 games as a professional (305 at club level and 32 with the Brazilian national side) in which he has scored 77 goals. 

3.Top goalscorer in the Premier League from outside the box

Philippe Coutinho has scored more goals from outside the box than any other player in the @premierleague since his debut. Skill

 

4.Old friends reunited 

The Brazilian shared a dressing room with Luis Suárez for a season and a half at Liverpool. The midfielder has also played with Paulinho and Rafinha for the Brazilian national team.

6.One game at Camp Nou

As part of the visiting team, Coutinho has played just once at Camp Nou before. That game came on 5 May 2012 in Barça's 4-0 win over city rivals Espanyol. The Brazilian came on to replace Álvaro Vázquez in the 65th minute.


7.Other meetings with Barça

Aside from the game at Camp Nou with Espanyol, Coutinho also faced FC Barcelona in a friendly with Liverpool in which the Reds ran out 4-0 winners at Wembley. The midfielder also played in a friendly game for the Brazilian national side against Barça B at the Ciutat Esportiva in which Rafinha appeared for the Blaugrana.


8.Twice player of the year with Liverpool

Coutinho was voted player of the season at Liverpool in 2015 and 2016, succeeding his teammate Luis Suárez who had won the award for the two previous seasons. The Brazilian was also named in the Best Premier League XI for the 2014/15 season.

9.Coutinho, the family man

The Brazilian met his wife Aina at the age of 14 and they have been together ever since. They were married in 2012 and in 2015 their first child, a daughter named María.

Coutinho also sought success with his nation’s U20s team. Brazil lifted the U20s World Cup in Colombia in 2011, with Coutinho a regular starter.
