Disqualified presidential aspirant of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Dr Paa Kwesi has stated that though he would like to become the president in order to better the lot of Ghanaians, winning the presidency was not a do or die affair for him.

Dr Nduom and eleven other aspirants including Hassan Ayariga of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Edward Mahama of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Madam Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings of the National DEmocratic Party (NDP) and Dr Henry Herbert Lartey of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) were on Monday disqualified by the EC from contesting in the December 7 presidential elections for various anomalies on their nomination forms which the EC said breached CI 94, the constitutional instrument regulating the conduct of the upcoming polls.

However, Dr Nduom at a press conference on Tuesday described the cited anomalies as mere administrative and clerical errors which a five-minute discussion with the EC boss could resolve.

He got his five-minute meeting on Wednesday but the EC boss affirmed her earlier decision saying she could not overturn the decision.

Despite the setback, Dr Nduom says he would not resort to any means other than the courts to get himself back in the race.

"We have a team of lawyers to take all necessary steps in law to have my nomination papers accepted", he told Joy FM's Super Morning Show host, Kojo Yankson on Thursday.

According to him, "strong institutions are based on the laws that set them up and since the EC is a strong part of the state" we will use the law to correct their mistakes because "if the EC loses it's integrity, we will devolve into a jungle-type nation".

"I want to become president and help the people of Ghana, but I won't do it by all means. I will only go by the law", he added.
